Hypoxia Zones in Airvana refer to moments during breathwork sessions when your blood oxygen saturation (SpO₂) drops to 90% or below.
These temporary low-oxygen states are intentionally induced and carefully monitored using our medical-grade pulse oximeter.
We categorize these zones by SpO₂ levels:
90–71% – Green Zone (mild hypoxia)
70–61% – Yellow Zone (moderate hypoxia)
60–51% – Orange Zone (significant hypoxia)
Below 50% – Red Zone (deep hypoxia)
Each zone reflects the physiological impact of the breathwork exercise.
Entering a hypoxia zone MAY stimulate adaptations such as:
- Improved oxygen efficiency
- Increased red blood cell production
- Enhanced cardiovascular and respiratory performance
- Stress resilience and nervous system regulation
Airvana tracks and visualizes these intervals in real-time, helping users and coaches understand how effectively the body responds to breath-hold and retention exercises.
Note: All sessions are designed to remain within safe, scientifically supported limits. Users with medical conditions should consult a healthcare professional before engaging in breath-hold practices.
